We did not take a regular camera, only a video camera, and I didn't realize how hard it was to clip good pics, with everyone in a few pictures, off a video. But here is an attempt. The pictures outside are at the Alburquerque Zoo. We invited Aunt Janet and Uncle Fred to New Mexico since they were doing Thanksgiving alone in Denver.

I’ve been waiting for my sunflowers to bloom to take this picture. Jake thought they were just weeds early on. In front of the sunflowers are tomatoes, peppers and squash plants. I’m replanting lettuce and spinach tomorrow. When dad went home teaching he found out we were the first in the neighborhood to have tomatoes, not to bad for transplants. I guess that horse manure was pretty good.

INTENT & END STATE

I think all of you know that, since 2002 when US forces went into Afghanistan, our family has prayed daily for the success and protection of our troops and their families.

The tempo of deployments has been so high that the families have need our prayers.

(There are huge costs to the war that can’t be measured in dollars. Military families are the undocumented casulties.)

Our prayers were earnest, but abstract, that is until we went to Fort Sill in January.

Now there are names, faces to go with the prayers for safety and success and family survival.

Our adventure is all we could have hoped for.

So, God bless Drill Sergeant Frank Obie and his family, SPC Jeff Matthews, Nicole and their children, PFC Ryan Ovens and his wife, Tom Brox, President Adair and Coleen, Priscilla Sacks, Diana Scholz and all the others.

SPRING on the HIGH PLAINS is quite as beautiful as we remembered, trees and fields of flowers blooming.

Mom insisted we document my DUCT TAPE masterpiece, the TV antenna on the rear of the FEMA trailer.

It enabled us to get several commercial stations and the Oklahoma PBS.

It stood up to 50 mph winds.

I did have to use some wire with the duct tape on this SEWER PIPE ELBOW that was the base of the mast.
